Peltokurki & Eereka
Peltokurki and Eereka will tour Finland together for the second time in the summer of 2025, combining the music of both bands. The joint tour combines summer, storytelling, poetry and the bright harmonies of the three singer-songwriters. The concerts will feature productions by both Peltokurki and Eereka with joint arrangements, as well as a few summer cover songs that tie the themes of the songs together. The tour’s concert venues will be idyllic and unique environments, where you can immerse yourself in the swinging summer tunes and delicate atmosphere.

Tea K
A backpacker from Central Ostrobothnia welcomes the market crowd on a musical road trip. The journey will be acoustically driven by country music, but as befits a good road trip, this one will also include a touch of rock and the Finnish rillumarei spirit.

The duo’s offering includes current hits as well as the most wonderful classics arranged in a new way.
LappiLove has garnered praise above all for its sensitive performance and exceptional arrangements.

Samba da Laponie
The samba group offers a very special program number that brings a touch of Rio de Janeiro’s energy and joy to the northern fell landscapes.
Carnival samba has deep roots in Brazilian history. It originated in Rio de Janeiro in the 1920s, when the rhythm and dance brought by African slaves merged with European and indigenous influences. The first samba schools were established in the poor neighborhoods of Rio de Janeiro, and the first official competition was held in 1932. Today, samba has become a symbol of Brazilian culture, full of joy, rhythm and energy.
Toisin kuin luullaan karnevaalisamba ei ole lattari vaan afrotanssi. Samban juuret ovat syvällä Afrikassa ja Candomblé-uskonnossa. Candomblén yksi kulmakivi tanssissa on eri jumaluuksien, orixojen, ilmentäminen. Liikkeet pohjautuvat orixojen luonteeseen ja esim. Siihen mitä luonnonvoimaa tämä hallitsee. Nämä liikkeet näkyvät vahvasti nykypäivän karnevaalisambassa.
Contrary to popular belief, carnival samba is not Latin but Afro-dance. Samba has its roots deep in Africa and the Candomblé religion. One of the cornerstones of Candomblé dance is the manifestation of various deities, orixas. The movements are based on the nature of the orixas and, for example, on what natural force they control. These movements are strongly reflected in today’s carnival samba.
Kittilä’s own samba group is the northernmost samba group in Finland, bringing the colorful brilliance and rhythm of carnival here to Lapland. Katariina Lukkarinen has been actively dancing carnival samba for 8 years and has performed in both Kajaani and Kemi performing samba groups and participated in the Helsinki samba carnival twice. In Kittilä, she first danced online classes with Brazilian teachers, but began to miss the group and community around her, and that’s how the Kittilä samba group was born 2 years ago. Some of the group have been involved from the beginning. This performance is not only about dance and music, but it is also a demonstration of the power and creativity of the community. It is amazing to combine the nature and culture of Lapland with the joyful rhythm of carnival samba. Our performance is full of northern magic and Lapland energy, and it shows how samba can adapt and flourish in any corner of the world!
Enjoy this wonderful encounter where Rio meets Kittilä – the celebration of dance, music and joy can begin!
Our performance will proceed in such a way that the procession will move on Saturday, July 5th at 15.00.

The story of a market visitor
I left the car in the parking lot of the municipal hall. It’s so nice to have so many market vendors and a great atmosphere. It’s easy to leave here and see what’s going on. You can see from here that there are a lot of people here. Traffic is calm. It’s good to see how many crosswalks there are in this village. It’s really safe to switch sides of the road and see what’s on offer.
Soma is the same who goes to the same shops in the village. There seems to be a lot of offers from local businesses. I have to admit that I didn’t know how to the variety of offerings in these shops. And you get hungry when you walk around here for a while. By the way, it’s nice to see these parking spaces in many places. If you are on the move, or even with a pram, you can get close to the stalls. There are also several types of food. There seems to be plenty of rubbish too. It’s certainly clean here. After eating a round of cotton wool, you have to wonder where the laundry is. Well, there’s a man in a yellow vest giving advice. I asked him where the toilets were. He advises that there are bajamajos, or toilets. No, not that there are any. He says you can ask them anything about the market if you have any questions.
There’s happy music over there. Oh, there’s a performance stage. It’s enough to make you shiver to hear how the variety of shows there is on offer. And there’s plenty to do and see for the kids. There’s singing, poetry and lots of other things. In the evening there’s a lot of music. in the karaoke tent. And before you go to the koth, be sure to buy some summer treats. This is the market in the middle of the village is really nice.
