Song Weaves<\/b> is a children’s music project by Hiski Pajuniemi from Oulu. The children’s musician and songwriter, known from Pentti Punk’s Birthday, uses guitar, woodwinds and a synthesizer in his solo performances in addition to his vocal cords. Using his looper, Pajuniemi conjures up multi-layered song weaves from these ringing threads that captivate children and adults alike. <\/div>\n

Laulukudelmia, who have already released two singles, Sukeltajat<\/a> and Robotti<\/a> Pipop\u00e4\u00e4, released their third single “\u00c4l\u00e4p\u00e4 h\u00e4tt\u00e4ile<\/a>” on streaming services on May 31, 2024. The full-length debut album of the same name will be released on August 16, 2024. <\/div>\n

The samba group offers a very special program number that brings a touch of Rio de Janeiro’s energy and joy to the northern fell landscapes.<\/p>\n

Carnival samba has deep roots in Brazilian history. It originated in Rio de Janeiro in the 1920s, when the rhythm and dance brought by African slaves merged with European and indigenous influences. The first samba schools were established in the poor neighborhoods of Rio de Janeiro, and the first official competition was held in 1932. Today, samba has become a symbol of Brazilian culture, full of joy, rhythm and energy. <\/p>\n

Contrary to popular belief, carnival samba is not Latin but Afro-dance. Samba has its roots deep in Africa and the Candombl\u00e9 religion. One of the cornerstones of Candombl\u00e9 dance is the manifestation of various deities, orixas. The movements are based on the nature of the orixas and, for example, on what natural force they control. These movements are strongly reflected in today’s carnival samba. <\/p>\n

Kittil\u00e4’s own samba group is the northernmost samba group in Finland, bringing the colorful brilliance and rhythm of carnival here to Lapland. Katariina Lukkarinen has been actively dancing carnival samba for 8 years and has performed in both Kajaani and Kemi performing samba groups and participated in the Helsinki samba carnival twice. In Kittil\u00e4, she first danced online classes with Brazilian teachers, but began to miss the group and community around her, and that’s how the Kittil\u00e4 samba group was born 2 years ago. Some of the group have been involved from the beginning. This performance is not only about dance and music, but it is also a demonstration of the power and creativity of the community. It is amazing to combine the nature and culture of Lapland with the joyful rhythm of carnival samba. Our performance is full of northern magic and Lapland energy, and it shows how samba can adapt and flourish in any corner of the world! <\/p>\n
